The effect of nitrogen (N) on the properties of NM500 anti wear plate and so on steel is similar to that of carbon and phosphorus. With the increase of nitrogen content, the strength of steel can be significantly improved, especially the plasticity, especially toughness, and the weldability will be decreased, and the cold brittleness will be intensified. At the same time, aging tendency, cold brittleness and hot brittleness will be increased, which will damage the weldability and cold bending property of steel. Therefore, the nitrogen content in NM500 anti wear plate and so on steel should be reduced and limited as much as possible. Generally, nitrogen content should not be higher than 0.018%.

Experiments have proved that the outstanding feature of the precipitation-strengthened NM500 anti wear plate, wear-resistant plate in terms of mechanical properties is that the yield strength is greatly improved. For example, the yield strength of the wear-resistant plate after precipitation strengthening treatment reaches 480-8l0MPa, and the yield strength ratio is 0.55-0.56; the wear-resistant plate that uses molybdenum, vanadium, and iron composite alloying, the yield ratio after dispersion strengthening is 0.60- 0.65.

The weldability of NM500 anti wear plate is good. It means that under certain process and construction conditions, NM500 anti wear plate can obtain good performance after welding. Weldability is a measure of the hot workability of steel. Weldability can be divided into weldability in construction and weldability in use. Weldability in construction refers to the sensitivity of cracking in weld metal and near seam zone, and hardening sensitivity of steel in near seam zone. Good weldability means that under certain welding process conditions, the weld metal and steel near the seam do not produce cracks. Weldability in use means that the mechanical properties of weld and HAZ steel are not lower than those of base metal.

It is reported that during the period from the end of 2018 to the first quarter of 2019, some Japanese long process steel mills encountered a series of production line equipment failures, resulting in the overall output decline. Japanese NM500 anti wear plate steel mills must give priority to domestic customers, so the export volume in the first half of last year was relatively small. Meanwhile, in the first half of the year, Japan's imports of general NM500 anti wear plate steel were about 2.079 million tons, down 16.4% year-on-year; imports of special steel were about 332000 tons, down 14.2% year-on-year.
